Misty Valley

New author rises to inspire extraordinary discoveries about the importance of childhood. Childhood innocence’s magic and ability to inspire brave belief in the beauty of life is more than the moral of Misty Valley, the debut release by Bridport author and artist Amanda E Brake who will be signing copies of her book at Bridport Book shop on the 26th September between 10 and 12 noon.

The adventures of courageous Christy, whose escapades into a shadowy magic land to save the village harvest leads to a celebration with lost friends.

Delving into memories of the mystical depths of a Dorset countryside childhood, experience as an au pair in Europe and the US and from mothering her two sons, Amanda has been motivated to share what has long been a favourite tale to tell wherever her path has led.

“I have always loved stories with a magical content, as I believe life can be magical, if we only choose to see it that way, within the struggle so many of us get lost in,” Amanda said.

Re-mastering the prose with a rhyming rhythm and illustrating the pages of Misty Valley with her own rich colourful chalk pastel paintings, Amanda aimed to showcase what a little fun and colour the world has to offer a child.

“I like my stories to have a bit of meaning and also a magical place to escape,” she said.

Much more than any ordinary short story, the truth behind the lines of even the best stories is what can inspire the most.

Amanda’s eldest son is blind, and is preparing for overseas medical treatment on his eyes.

Misty Valley dedicated to her children’s’ passion for and ability to living life to the fullest, and the proceeds of the book sales will fund this treatment.

The special celebration of life contained in the pages of Misty Valley is already attracting worldwide interest from readers and critics alike following its release in early August.

While working on releasing her second book, Amanda is available for interviews and public reading and signing sessions.
