Bridport Arts Centre is delighted to announce that it will be presenting the award-winning showcase by the Joy Collective on Friday 2 October at 8pm.
The Joy Collective is a new UK based cross-artform production and live platform initiative, founded and led by subversive Exeter based music artist duo Drunk With Joy.
Under the Joy Collective umbrella, Mila Oshin and Kris Jager (a.k.a. Drunk With Joy) foster exceptional professional emerging visual and performing artists by presenting their work in new ways to new audiences on a live music soundtrack. Currently, the Joy Collective comprises five dance artists, three digital media artists/filmmakers and six visual artists from the South West.
By utilising new media and digital media technologies, and blurring the boundaries of art forms such as contemporary dance, visual art, film and live music, the Joy Collective aims to challenge our perception of art in all its forms. At the centre of the Joy Collective is an ever-evolving live multi-media showcase, which presents individual bodies of work by the artists as well as work collaboratively produced by them. Using live feeds, projections and digital video production, the showcase incorporates live contemporary dance pieces, sculpture, photography, film, painting, poetry, animation, drawing, digital media, printmaking and mixed media on a live music soundtrack by Drunk With Joy.
The pilot of the first Joy Collective showcase was presented at Exeter Phoenix last year to a sell-out audience. With the support of Arts Council England, the Joy Collective is now developing it into a full-length live multi-media experience, including more talented emerging artists and exciting new work.
