A ‘Wake Up’ call from BACStage

Bridport Arts Centre’s youth theatre, BACStage will be performing their devised physical theatre show Wake Up today, Wednesday 27 June at 8pm.

Originally conceived and performed as part of the International Youth Theatre Day in April, the young actors have re-worked the piece, expanding on the original ideas and enlarging the cast. The play has been directed by dancer and producer Niki McCretton, who teaches the weekly class.

Niki said “Wake Up is full of wonderful ideas and surprising moments, some of them very moving. There is a great dynamic within the group and they have all worked incredibly hard to get the piece to be just as they want it. I am very proud of what they have achieved.”  The piece last approximately 35 minutes and there will be a retiring collection towards further BACStage work.

There will be a 3 day BACStage summer school led by actor and director Jonny Hoskins for 12 to 18 year olds from July 24 to 26 culminating in a performance on the arts centre forecourt.  Anyone interested in taking part can call the box office on 01308 424 204 to reserve a place. The fee is £60 / £40 conc. for the 3 days and 15 places are available.
