Eliza Carthy Band will be appearing at Bridport Arts Centre on Friday 13th May to perform new album ‘Neptune’. Eliza is one of the most critically acclaimed folk musicians of her generation. Mike Harding, of BBC Radio 2’s Folk Show described her new album as “Bold and powerful and full of absolutely amazing music”.
Recorded at Castle Studios, Edinburgh and co-produced by Dave Wah and Eliza Carthy, ‘Neptune’ is the solo follow up to 2008’s ‘Dreams of Breathing Underwater’ and the first record to be released through her own label, HemHem Records.
Eliza says ““Neptune relates to an astrological reading I had done by a friend of the family. The material on the album is ordered chronologically and is about the last ten years of my life. It’s a story about ending relationships and beginning new ones with their own imperfections, and is about the thought that nothing is perfect, even when written in the stars”.
On the new tour the band propose a new style of modern British music. The style is aggressive: the strings play hard. Drums, bass, Hammond, accordion, fiddle, guitar, cello, piano… The performance is visceral, emotional, exciting and full on.
Tickets are available from the Bridport Arts Centre box office on 01308 424204, or online at www.bridport-arts.com, priced £15/ £14 Members/ £10 Concessions.
