John Otway

Self styled as rock and rolls biggest failure, John Otway may not have made it into the Rock and Roll hall of fame but his surreal humor and underdog persona have earned him a cult following.

John first tasted success with his 1977 classic (Cor Baby, That’s) Really Free with Wild Willy Barrett. He had a single in the charts, a record deal and Pete Townsend producing his work yet the second hit single eluded him. However, decades of gigging earned him a loyal following, he once filled the royal Albert Hall.

The second hit single finally came in 2002 with his wonderful disco pastiche “Bunsen Burner” making it to number nine in the singles chart- just in time for his 50th birthday!

John will be performing at Bridport Arts Centre on Saturday 24 September, 8pm. £10/£9 members /£8 conc from Bripdort Arts Centre box office.
