Gigs at the Ropemakers taking place this July…
Friday 13th – The Incontinentals – 9:15pm – Boy, are we looking forward to this one…
THE INCONTINENTALS is a manic and highly entertaining group. There are five ‘real’ instruments (mandolin, banjo, guitars and trombone), supported by a motley collection of recycled kitchen, garden and toilet objects which, together with the washboard, form the ‘percussion’. Other ‘instruments’ comprise such delightful music making items as wellie boot, bike pump, kettle, chain-saw and a cluge of whistles, horns, kazoos, bird calls….. and all is accompanied by a dustbin or tea-chest bass. Their ‘wardrobe’ is something to behold. Take a gander.
Saturday 14th – Elephant Talk – 9:15pm –
Elephant Talk play a unique fusion of Folk, World, fuelled by a combination of eclectic backbeats ranging from: Dub, Drum n’ Bass breakbeats to Trance and Techno. Take a look.
Friday 20th – Arnie Cottrell – 9:15pm – Anothert great booking for this month.
Arnie Cottrell has been playing music for most of his life. He started out on the folk scene of the 60s and 70s where he formed an enduring but interrupted friendship with East end guitarist, singer and songwriter Richard Digance. He went on to play in various Rhythm and Blues, Soul, Reggae, psychedelic psycho outfits, Cajun, Old Timey, Ceilidh outfits before realising that his true love was acoustic music as long as the songs are good. That’s where he is now. He’s opened twice for Robert Cray and once for Keb Mo. Each gig was a towering success. He has cult followings the length and breadth of the country and in odd corners of the world. Take a look see.
