Yorkshire guitar star and singer, Kit Holmes, brings blues, jazz, roots and folk to Bridport Arts Centre
Kit Holmes will be making her debut performance at Bridport Arts Centre on Friday 10 May at 8pm.
Kit’s trademark sultry vocals and virtuoso guitar playing have wowed audiences across the UK through extensive touring with the guitar hero John Etheridge. She is now touring with her own duo, showcasing her own astounding guitar and fiddle skills. Her duo is completed by producer and guitarist, Allan Greenwood.
The press have hailed her as a new British guitar heroine. Alongside her sultry vocals, her folk, blues, roots and soul inspired sound has been winning her fans all over the country. Her sound has been described by The Observer as ‘Macy Gray meets Nick Drake’, and the All Music Guide said she was a ‘world-class player’.
Kit has released three albums to date, all mastered at the famous Abbey Road studios. Her most recent last year, entitled Driving into the Blue, features legendary double bass player Danny Thompson, who has worked with some of the greatest names in the music business: Kate Bush, Pentangle and John Martyn.
Kit will be showcasing tracks from this and her previous albums at her Bridport debut. BBC Radio DJs Bob Harris and Andy Kershaw have both featured Kit on their radio shows. Kit has delivered a masterclass at Paul McCartney’s LIPA, performed at the Anne Frank Awards at the BBC, and played a headline show at the International Guitar Festival of Great Britain.
Bridport Arts Centre is delighted to welcome Kit to one of their Jazz Café nights. The evening promises to be one of enthralling music, with gorgeous guitar, poignant lyrics and feisty fiddle, delivered by Kit Holmes and Allan Greenwood in an energetic live performance.
