Kokoro, the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra’s contemporary music ensemble is heading to Bridport and it will be led by talented local musician, Sammy Hurden.
The ensemble has performed throughout the south and south west at venues such as the Wiltshire Music Centre, Bradford on Avon, Phoenix Arts Centre, Exeter, The Anvil, Basingstoke, Turner Sims Concert Hall, Southampton, Bridport Arts Centre, and Dartington College of Arts, as well as at the Cheltenham and Corsham Festivals.
Continuing this year’s theme the concert will celebrate the pioneering spirit of the orchestra’s founder, Sir Dan Godfrey. Kokoro will present a programme of British composers including Oliver Knussen’s Hums and Songs of Winnie the Pooh, Hywel Davies’ Eight Settings of Emily Dickinson, Thomas Ades’ Court Music from The Tempest and a new work from Liverpudlian composer Stephen Pratt – On Reflection.
