Landance 2012

You are invited to two spectacular and unique live performances on the rolling hills of Dorset on Saturday 14th and Sunday 15th July at 6pm. Landance in 2012 is bringing together contemporary dancers, singers and visual art for two performances on Eggardon Hill that are free for the whole family to enjoy.

This one-off weekend spectacle will combine beautiful contemporary dance from dancers of all generations with a stunning, specially-commissioned score by award-winning local composer Andrew Dickson alongside site specific art, playing with the relationship between humans and our landscape, by artist and director Ella Huhne.  Celebrating the awe inspiring Iron Age Hill Fort, Eggardon, in the Dorset Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, these hour-long promenade performances promise to be utterly unforgettable.

The performers are a combination of award-winning professionals and members of the community who have been working together since May. Choreographer Anna Golding, who has been delivering dance workshops leading up to the event, said: “Making this year’s Landance at Eggardon has been an incredible experience – beautiful, wild and mysterious. The performances will take the audience on a journey like no other”.

Landance returns after its hugely successful Devon and Somerset performances in 2010. Audience member Irina Brown said: “I was totally enchanted and grateful to have been given this opportunity to experience art and nature coming together in celebration.”

The project has been granted the ‘Inspire mark’ by the London 2012 London Inspire programme, is an Earth Festival Associate project and is part of Big Dance. See www.landance.org.uk for more information.
