The next ‘Hayloft Session’ will take place on Wednesday 7th March upstairs at The Stable in Bridport. The night will feature alt-country/folk act Monogram with support from local singer-songwriter Lucy9mm.
Monogram are a four-piece band with roots in country, folk and chanson, who take inspiration from old movies, crumbling comic books and Victorian novels. The group first performed live at The Drill Hall, London in October 2004 as part of the Irregular Records English Chanson season and later went on to release their first album ‘What The Butler Saw’ with Unlabelled Records. They went on to perform at venues throughout London, from Bush Hall to the Vyner Street Festival – though they still yearn to play Texas.
They’ll be coming to Bridport to give a rare performance of some of their spookiest, folkiest, countriest and rockiest material. Vic Pratt will be taking to his high-stool with a gin & tonic to deliver melancholic gravel voiced vocals. The band will also feature Joe Gideon (of fantastic blues-punk duo Joe Gideon & The Shark) on bass guitar, luscious guitar chops from Stephen Mcconnachie and the deft rhythms of Andy Yates on drums & pedal steel guitar, who’ll be travelling all the way from New York specially for the occasion.
Support will come from local singer/songwriter Lucy9mm, whose compelling live performances have seen her making waves locally and nationally. Her music mixes alt-rock and blues influences with twisted folk and her own unique songwriting style. She’ll be joined on cajon by local musical chameleon Che Albrighton.
