Two of Dorset’s most popular musical acts Tinderbox and Stompin’ Dave Allen team up to present a “sublime acoustic concert” at Bridport Art Centre on Wednesday 18th July. Original acoustic folk duo Tinerbox feature the “honey-like” vocals of Dublin native Monique Houraghan, and the intricate finger style guitar of Dan Tucker. The Bournemouth based duo were awarded Best European Revelation Group 2010 by Premios Pop-Eye Gala Awards, in Spain, then followed a successful US tour. Their fourth studio album “Counting Time” was released in March this year. Many of the tracks have already enjoyed widespread radio-play and the reviews have been stunning. R2 Magazine branded the album “Outstanding”. BBC’s Roger Day described the work as “Beautiful” and revered singer-songwriter Johnny Coppin, on his BBC radio show, branded the songs “Fantastic”. Tinderbox have a busy summer ahead with numerous festivals and concerts, as well as some great supports for legendary artists including Joan Armatrading and Eleanor McEvoy.
Also appearing solo and in collaboration with Tinderbox is local favourite Stompin’ Dave Allen. Dave also has a very busy schedule this summer with festival appearances scheduled at Priddy Folk Festival, The Secret Garden Festival, Warwick Folk Festival, The Great Dorset Steam Fair, Didmarton Bluegrass Festival and Bath Folk Festival among others. Dave said “I’m really looking forward to performing at Bridport Art Centre to support Tinderbox one of my favourite original acoustic duos. Tinderbox performed short spots at some of The Sublime Folk concerts I have organised the last few years and have always impressed. It’s a great chance for music fans in west Dorset to hear them take centre stage and play a full set. They are fantastic songwriters and performers.
