Organisers of the Bridport Food Festival have launched a Facebook page this week to highlight their work and encourage debate about local produce. The page will give up-to-date information about the work of the Local Food Group, run discussions about food in Bridport and offer insight into the work of local producers.
Within its first week it had attracted some 45 fans including MasterChef winner Mat Follas, who owns Beaminster's Wild Garlic restaurant.
It comes as the group prepares for its first annual general meeting combined with food and wine tastings to be held next month.
The decision to use the social networking site comes as the group hope to consolidate their success at Bridport after being crowned Best Dorset Food Town at the Taste of Dorset Awards.

The Taste of Bridport event will also act as the launch pad for next year’s festival themed on making local food accessible to all.
The group hope the meeting at The Salt House, in West Bay, at 6pm on 26 November, will bring in new people and retailers interested in taking part.
Chairman Amanda Streatfeild, of Denhay Farms, said: "This year's event was incredibly successful in terms of the producers and the numbers of people coming to see what we do, I think people really could see the potential of it.
"But we need new people to get involved whether they are a producer, a retailer or just lovers of local food we’d like you to join us.
"Next year's theme is aimed at getting the message across that good local food is there for everyone not just the wealthy.
“By having a presence on Facebook we hope that people – and especially young people – will be able to see the work that we do.
“As time goes on and more people join we’d like give more information about foods in season and a chance to question local producers.
“At the moment, for example we are running a discussion, on where are the best places to get local food.”
