The Fishermans Arms is NOT a pub. We would like raise awareness of The Fishermans Arms Day Centre in South Street which is owned and run by Dorset County Council.
Not only is it of importance to the Service Users but also to the Carers and the families, in knowing that the person is in a safe environment, with qualified care and the amenities needed.
The Centre provides not only activities but also help and support in a relaxed, friendly and social atmosphere. Without this Day Centre many lives would be less fullfilled, lonely and difficult to cope with.
To us it is a safe haven.
There are many varying disabilities and support needs using different parts of the Centre on different days. They include physical and learning disabled, older persons, deaf and hearing inpaired supported by qualified deaf/skilled personnel.
The centre is not a charity but is always in need of additional funds, in order to provide for acivities and the opportunities for learning new skills.
Throughout the year the Centre has open days and fund raising events, These include The Bridport Carnival, Easter and Christmas Fayres, not only to raise funds for themselves but also for various charities.
Volunteers and fundraisers are always needed and welcomed along with contibutions of time, gifts and resources.
