Autonomy Films Present Frida: Still Life (1983 Colour 108mins)
A rare prize-winning Mexican feature film about the life of Frida Kahlo, Latin America’s greatest woman artist, whose haunting paintings – especially self-portraits – reflect an extraordinary life. She survived polio, abortions and a crippling near-fatal road accident. A leftist and revolutionary, her scandalizing bisexual love life included an affair with Trotsky, and on-off marriage to legendary muralist Diego Rivera.
