Book now for an Evening of Community Entertainment at the Lyric Theatre on Saturday 9th February 2013, featuring the Best of Local Talent, and help raise funds for the restoration of one of Bridport’s historic community buildings.
The event has been organised by new Community Group, the Barrackers, who first got together for a Jubilee Street party last year. Dave Bell, whose jazz band “Impromptu” will be performing, says “When rain almost stopped play, Niki and Marc opened their doors to save the day. Now we want to repay their generosity by raising funds for them, while at the same time enjoying some community spirit.”All proceeds will go to the Lyric Restoration Fund.
The musical line-up, who are all performing for free, also features singer/keyboard duo Lauren Glover and Mike Ray, plus a new group — the “Bucky Maybees” (a spin-off from those famous ukuleles, the Bucky Don’ts), Mitch Norman, “The January Gang” and “New Horizons”. In addition, Marc Parrett and his spell-binding puppets from the Stuff and Nonsense Theatre will amaze both young and old.
A Grand Raffle will offer high-quality prizes.
The Lyric has recently become a Community Interest Company, in recognition of the valuable work that it is doing in supporting people in the community to be creative via the performing arts.
Tickets are available from The Lyric Tel: 01308 423951 or online at www.the-lyric.com. £6 in advance or £10 on the night. (7-11pm doors open 6.30pm)
