An Evening with Paul Atterbury to raise funds for the LSI
Bridport Area Development Trust are delighted to invite you to an evening with Paul Atterbury on Tuesday 24 May at Bridport Town Hall. Tickets cost £6 and are on sale now at Bridport Tourist Information Centre. The evening is raising funds to support the restoration of Bridport Literary and Scientific Institute. A wine bar will be available.
Paul Atterbury is a freelance writer and lecturer specialising in 19th and 20th century art and design. He is perhaps best known for his many appearances on the BBC TV programme, Antiques Roadshow. Despite never having an ambition to appear on television, Paul has been working with the ‘Miscellaneous’ team on the Antiques Roadshow for over 20 years.
Fundraising chair for the LSI restoration project, Amanda Streatfeild said,
“We are delighted that Paul has agreed to spend an evening with us, raising funds for the restoration of the LSI. He is a fascinating speaker and his extensive knowledge of 19th and 20th century art and design has particular relevance to the LSI, which was once a well-respected art school. Fra Newbery, teacher and mentor of Charles Rennie Mackintosh and widely recognised as the driving force behind the Glasgow arts and crafts movement, trained at the LSI before later becoming Director of Glasgow School of Art’.”
