Autonomy Films present Missing a film by Costa-Gavras
9/11 has become synonymous with the attacks on the US in 2001 but on 11th September 1973 the US backed a military coup in Chile. The democratically elected government of Allende was violently overthrown by Pinochet’s murderous dictatorship which interned 80,000, tortured up to 30,000 and terrorized the Chilean people for 17 years.
This Oscar-winning thriller stars Jack Lemmon and Sissy Spacek in powerful dramatic roles, and portrays the horrific human consequences of the events of 1973.
The film was withdrawn from distribution until 2006 due to a lawsuit brought by the ex-US ambassador to Chile, which was eventually dismissed.
