Radio Work Continues

Radio work continues at Bridport Arts Centre

Remember Bridport FM? The local radio station based at Bridport Arts Centre broadcast a wide variety of programmes made by local people over a week last September.

If you were inspired to ‘have a go at radio’ yourself, some courses on offer at BAC this spring are for you.

How to structure and conduct an interview with tutor Chris Savory will consider the different types of radio interviews and in particular the different purposes behind them. Participants will look at research methods pre-interview; compare a range of broadcast material; plan an interview and practice role-play.

Chris’ course begins on Wednesday 15, April and continues on 22 and 29 April and runs from 7 to 9pm. It’s for a maximum of 10 participants and costs £6 per session.

Audio editing led by tutors Tristan Allsop and Declan Duffy begins on Monday 13, April and continues on 20, 27 April and Monday 4 May. In this course participants will learn about how sound is recorded digitally, different formats, the uses of editing and how to edit a piece of recorded material. The tutors will be using Audacity software and computer competence (though not brilliance!) is required. Please bring your laptop to the course if you have one.

The course runs from 7 to 9pm in the BAC cafe for a maximum of 8 participants and costs £6 per session.

Both courses are led by previous Bridport FM participants and content generated through the courses may be used to create podcasts for the BAC website.

All the tutors are all generously donating their time for free so any income earned from the courses will be ring fenced for a future Bridport FM radio station.
