Bridport Museum Villages Project: Symondsbury and Shipton Gorge
In October Bridport Museum is launching its ‘Villages Project’. The first two events are in Shipton Gorge and Symondsbury. Residents past and present of these villages are invited along to their village hall to share memories, photographs and memorabilia over a cup of tea. Museum staff will show photographs from its collection, and hope to collect ‘memories’ from people for its archive before they are gone forever. Anyone is encouraged to bring along items they would like to show and talk about.
If these two events are successful, other villages will partake in similar events early next year. The aim is to produce exhibitions at the museum with loaned items and memories collected. All ages are very much encouraged, and children can enter our colouring competition. Download a picture from our website www.bridportmuseum.co.uk. You can either drop it into the Museum, post it, or bring it on the day. There will be a lovely prize for the best entry!
Both events are free, so you are encourage to just drop in and bring your friends for what promises to be a lovely day. Details of each as follows:
Shipton Gorge: Saturday 8 October at the village hall. Drop in any time between 11-3pm, with presentations at 11.30am-1.30pm.
Symondsbury: Sunday 23 October at the church. Drop in any time between 2-5pm with a presentation at 2.30pm.
