Want to learn how to make radio programmes?
Bridport FM is a new community project run by Bridport Arts Centre in partnership with Windrose Rural Media Trust to make radio programmes with local people.
Free training in all aspects of programme making will be provided – interview technique, research, recording, editing, broadcasting etc.
The project runs from May 2011 to February 2012 when it will culminate in Bridport FM – a temporary radio station that will broadcast from the arts centre for one week.
All the programmes made in the community will be broadcast along with lots of live content – music, bands, songs, interviews, stories, performance poetry and more.
There will be lots of opportunities for volunteers to work at Bridport FM, alongside a professional studio manager and learn on-the-job about working at a radio station. No previous experience is necessary.
The project is primarily aimed at younger people (15 – 25) and older people (over 60) although, of course, everyone is welcome. Our aim is to bring together people who would not otherwise meet and give them the opportunities to learn new things through working on absorbing and exciting projects.
We want the programmes made to be about things that interest local people, so we welcome suggestions – it could end up on the radio!
Everyone is warmly invited to the project launch on Tuesday 17 May at Bridport Arts Centre at 7pm where you can find out more. The event is called “I didn’t know you did that” and is designed to get people talking!
Bridport FM is inspired by UNICEF’s Rights Respecting principles and is funded by the Esmee Fairbairn Foundation.
Please get in touch if you’d like more information or if you can’t make the launch but would still like to be involved. T:01308 427 183 E: kate@bridport-arts.com
