This December you can watch the heartwarming classics White Christmas and Miracle on 54th Street on the big screen at Bridport Arts Centre. The special mid-day screenings are perfect for senior citizens or parents who can leave in time for the school run.
The 1954 film White Christmas starring Bing Crosby, Danny Kaye, Rosemary Clooney and Vera-Ellen will be screened on Thursday 13 December at 1pm. The witty film follows two Second World War US army friends and entertainers, Bob Wallace and Phil Davis, who team up with sister act, Betty and Judy, to help save the failing Vermont inn of their former commanding general. All of the songs in the film are written by Irving Berlin, including ‘Count Your Blessings Instead of Sheep’. ‘It’s Cold Outside’ and ‘Love, You Didn’t Do Right By Me’.
Miracle on 34th Street tells the story of a nice old man who claims to be Santa Claus and is institutionalized as insane, and the young lawyer who decides to defend him by arguing in court that he is the real thing. The film will be screened on Thursday 20 December, 1pm.
Bridport Arts Centre welcomes groups from residential homes in the area and viitors are welcome to phone 01308 424204 in advance regarding access needs. The Arts Centre will also be screening Liberal Arts, Ginger & Rosa and Beasts of the Southern Wild this December.
