The Society of Imaginary Friends create a beguiling mix of folk and opera which draw the listener into a vortex of powerful operatics and melodies. With a growing fan-base of people looking for something fresh and real…concerts inevitably end in tumultuous ovations and encores. They wrote and performed the music for the extraordinary Glastonbury Arcadia Spectacular show this year seen by 30,000 people per night, an incredibly moving performance.
In September, along with Edward Tenpole Tudor and William Summers (Circulus, Mighty Boosh) they were invited to be the very last act to ever perform on stage at St Martin’s College of Art in Soho (the same stage where the Sex Pistols were launched) Society of Imaginary Friends closed the building forever with a medieval operatic samba jamboree which spilled into Charing Cross Rd stopping traffic !!
SOIF are currently working with Royal Opera House choreographer and director Aletta Collins (Anna Nichole) on their full scale opera “Random Access Memory” which is to tour summer 2012.
What ever you do, don’t miss this extraordinary night at Beach & Barnicott.
