An Anarchist's Story: The Life of Ethel MacDonald.
It is 1936, and civil war sweeps through Spain. Working class Scot Ethel MacDonald becomes one of the world's most famous voices by sending dispatches and broadcasts from the Spanish Anarchist camp in Barcelona to the UK. Soon she is being mentioned frequently in the mainstream press, especially when she mysteriously disappears. The film uses contemporary accounts and Ethel’s own words to unravel the mystery of 'The Scots Scarlet Pimpernel', and examine her impact on European history.
