Citizens Advice has launched a new service across rural Dorset, providing residents with an out of hours helpline for the first time. The helpline is: 08444 772022 This is manned on the following days:
- Monday/Tuesday evenings 16:30 – 18:00,
- Tuesday/Wednesday mornings 08:45 – 10am,
- Wednesday/Thursday evenings 16:30 – 19:00.
This number also provides access to a comprehensive information service that is available 24hrs a day. Calls are charged at 5ppm, mobiles vary.
The helpline is serving rural Dorset : Bridport, Christchurch, Dorchester, East Dorset (Wimborne), North Dorset (Gillingham), Sherborne, Purbeck (Wareham), Weymouth and Portland. This is a great step forward, as we have never before been able to offer an out of hours service to those clients who are unable to make that call for help during a normal working day.
Sue Alford from the CAB says
"Unfortunately, this service is not widely known, and is therefore not being used enough. We really need to get the message across Dorset that this service exists in order to keep the service/funding going. It may also prompt someone who is struggling with debt/reposession/unemployment to give the CAB a call and ask for help and advice with the problems they are facing."
CAB helpline is: 08444 772022

My heart lit up when I saw th headline CAB Helpline. I have been waiting for a cab to pick me up in west bay and take me to the Tiger for ages. When will it get here?????
On a more serious note about Citizens Advice Centre, 19 years ago I was in deep financial cak and the advice offered by CAB was practical, sensible and gratefully received. I can whole heartedly reccomend them to anyone with serious finacial problems. having a clear picture of what mess I was in and a bit og guidence as to the path out was a great help and the first steps on a journey back to finacial stability. The rest of journey involves hard work, retraining(if required), determination, and a change of attitude, all of which are hard to come by when you are on the bones of your arse.
