Two Get to the O2

It’s not often that dreams come true, but that’s just what’s happened for Weymouth singer songwriter Sarah de Warren who has scooped the prestigious 24 carat gold Best Original Song Award at the Live and Unsigned Awards semi-final held at the Beck Theatre in Hayes Middlesex. The next step is the national final at London’s landmark O2 on July 14.

Sarah, a music scholar at Bryanston School and former Budmouth Technology College student has been composing songs since she was 13. Heading for a degree course in Audio Acoustics at Salford University, de Warren is a regular at the Sailor s Return mic nights in Weymouth and Tom Brown s in Dorchester where she cut her teeth before supportive local crowds among whom she has developed a considerable fan base.

I’m in the middle of my A Levels, this has been a crazy week,  remarked Sarah with characteristic modesty.  I formed a duet with cellist Charlie Raines after a chance meeting at the Reading Festival. We ve been working on covers and original material and we seemed to wow the judges on Saturday including Radio One’s Annie Nightingale it s amazing. We’re playing at the O2, I can t believe it; my Facebook has gone crazy!  If Sarah wins the Best Band category in London on July 14 she will be in line for a  £10,000 award to develop her music and a chance to tour the fringe festival circuit with her original material.
