Bridport & District U3A has been awarded a grant of £400 by West Dorset District Council’s Area Community Projects Fund 2010. The money will be used for the design and production of membership packs, including a programme of monthly talks, details of the study/interest groups run by U3A and membership cards. Thanks to the grant, the group will also be able to produce promotional literature such as posters and flyers.
Bridport & District is the fastest growing U3A in the South West. Since its launch four months ago more than 150 members have joined and to date 25 interest groups, including fossil hunting, bridge and wine tasting have been set up.
U3A stands for the University of the Third Age. It is a self-help organisation for people no longer in full-time employment, providing them with educational, creative and leisure opportunities.
