August 2006 – Waldorf & Stadtler has stepped down as Bridport Radio Mayor in protest at the “shoddy excuse” for a Carnival Procession. He is quoted as saying: “It’s meant to be the show piece, the cream of the crop, but as far as I could see, it was nothing but a 15 minute onslaught of papier-mâché and majorettes!” Waldorf and Stadtler have said they thought that on previous years, the procession has been getting more and more disappointing, but this year it has hit an embarrassing “all time low”.

It has become apparent in the recent holiday rush on the roads, in particular the A35 between The Travellers Rest at Uploders and the old Frodsham Motors site at Morcombelake, that Chideock and the roads leading into (and out of, of course) could really do with some sort of selective cleansing process in order to free up OUR roads from short sighted arrogant members of The Caravan Club who have travelled the length and breadth of the country in order to cause a bottleneck of traffic around Bridport.
Friendly family run non-smoking Bed & Breakfast close to harbour and beaches. All the rooms are large and spacious with en-suite shower rooms. We have off road parking.
The winner of the fiendishly difficult "where's it to?" competition is Bridport Radio Member Poohface who has bagged a £30.00 gift voucher to spend in Steptoes by telling us where these six pictures were taken, there was also a tiebreaker to complete. We liked Poohface's "I think Bridport is great because…we have a fantastic link to the community through Bridport Radio" But AndyHead's "I think Bridport is great because…I've lived here ten years and there still lots of obscure architectural details that I am unfamililar with" wins him one of our limited edition Mikkimugs.
Tuesday 26 July '06 Harbour Amusements, West Bay has been given an ultimatum by the West District Dorset Council to remove flower baskets that it has installed outside its premises within 24 hours or, say the Council "We will destroy them." The perpetrator of this hideous crime to society Mr Parkin said "It's madness, we won the Bridport in bloom competition last year and have recieved nothing but complements about them, especially from the people at the nearby old folks home."
Surrounded by such beautiful countryside it’s easy to become complacent about the green spaces that weave there way into and through the town. Bridport born singer songwriter Kate Garrett returns home for some dates with her band around the South West. For this tour she will be with fellow band member, Barney M. Brown, whose anarchic approach to playing cello underpins the band’s unusual sound. The Kate Garrett Band will be touring with Loz Colbert (Ride, Animal House) completing the line-up on drums in the autumn.

People are thronging to local town Dorchester in their throngsfulls since the opening of a Tchibo Store in the town cenner itself. On any bin day and the night before the streets are strewn with rubbish – rotting potato peelings, decaying chicken carcasses, crispy condoms, festering sanitary towels, stinky nappies and all manner of detritus which covers the roads and pavements forcing pedestrians to take evasive action or risk soiling their shoes/wheels on last weeks leftovers. So whose fault is it?
