The PVA MediaLab studio is working in collaboration with Bridport Arts Centre and partnering with the National Trust to commission a new work based on the Jurassic Coast.
This commission is expected to engage with users of the Hive Beach Café and beach at Burton Bradstock to explore the human story of the Jurassic Coast and how the physical and the social influence and impact upon each other.
Fee: £6500
Production costs: negotiable up to £1500
A budget to cover accommodation and travel costs for the research/development and installation period is provided separately.
Both Bridport Arts Centre and PVA MediaLab are interested in socially engaged artistic practice, engaging with a non-arts audience and presenting art in non-traditional spaces. The owners of the Hive are re-designing an existing cafe [The Watch House] at West Bay and the potential to work across both sites is currently being negotiated.
If you would like to discuss further the concept, context and expectations for this commission please contact julie@pva.org.uk
The full brief and background information can be found here: www.bigpic.org.uk
[please note the change in the stated production budget from £3500 to £1500]
Open brief commissions
