Blooming Marvellous Exhibition: Can you help our Garden Grow?
Bridport Arts Centre has unveiled a knitted garden in the Allsop Gallery and they need your help making it grow.
Blooming Marvelous started as an intergenerational knitting project and is an ever-evolving work of art. The project was organized by Pauline Stanely who recruited knitting and crochet enthusiasts from across the UK including WI groups, students, children, housewives and pensioners.
The exhibition is joyful, humorous and includes everything that you might expect to find in a garden – including gnomes, flowers and a washing line with underwear! People really used their imagination in the most spectacular fashion.
The Arts Centre is inviting people to come and knit in the gallery on Saturdays, and from 12-2pm there will be someone to help you, as well as patterns being available.
On the final day of the exhibition, on Bank Holiday Monday 29 August, between 12-2pm, there will be a Knit-a-thon on the Arts Centre forecourt aiming to gathering together as many knitters and crocheters as possible. Bring your needles and join in the fun.
