Amateur archaeologist finds female giant. Amateur archaeologist Vins Lyaterday believes he has found the site of “Bridport Woman” a figure similar to the Cerne Giant carved into a hillside near Bridport. Vins, a Norwegian who moved to Dorset a few years ago was intrigued by lumps and bumps in a field hidden inside a large private estate near where he lived. Mr Lyaterday said:

Amazing Find
After having dug to a depth of 10 feet last year, French scientists found traces of copper wire dating back 200 years and came to the conclusion that their ancestors already had a telephone network more than 150 years ago.
London Borough of Bridport
TFL and The Mayor of London Boris Johnson jointly announce plans to add the South West town of Bridport to the Underground rail network.
In recent research it was discovered that considering 75% of westbound traffic in the lead-up to various weekends and school holidays throughout the year was destined for Bridport, the addition of Bridport to the network was a “no brainer”.
The Page Turner
If Heath Robinson had invented the Kindle – maximum effort for absolutely minimum, but delightful, result.
New Restaurant to Open
IN WEST DORSET it is possible to scoff away at just about any sort of grub you care to mention. Except for one. I was privileged to be at a gathering of the sharpest and finest minds in Dorset to discuss this very problem just last evening at The Ilchester Arms in Symondsbury. A decision was taken to right this wrong and include the, formerly, excluded. This gap in the market must be plugged and now it will be plugged.
The Red Bladder’s Fearless Exploit
NOW I AM going to need an awful lot of help and support with this one but I know that the good people of this town will come flooding forward
Tourist Complaints
Further to the report that a holidaymaker David Copp who came across a fishing trawler moored in Ilfracombe Harbour, took great offence and complained: We can confirm reports that second home owners (Cuckoos) in West Milton have complained that cows have been defecating in nearby fields, Mrs Deidre Towniscombe said

Horny Bunny
On a recent house call in bridport Mr Ray Poole of the Loft antiques in Gundry lane discovered unknown to himself a rare little gem.
Not quite sure what he had found Mr Poole contacted the British rodent and rabbit society chairman Mr Charles D Homberg R.F.F. and was told it was in fact a rare Marshwood Vale Horned Rabbit (Oryctolagus Wurzelus Cornuculus) extinct since the late 18thC.
Mr Homberg said that it is the only known stuffed trophy head but he does have a skull which was found while ditching work was being carried out by council workers in the 1920s near Pilsdon.

Indian Housing Estate Clone Colmers
It’s no surprise, the popularity of our very own Colmers Hill could not go unnoticed throughout the world, a firm of Indian architects have built a full size replica of Dorset’s most iconic mound in Ajmer, a city in Ajmer District in India’s Rajasthan state.
The amazing feat of human ingenuity took a mere six weeks to complete and over 30,00 moundwallas were drafted in to complete the ginormous landmark.

Pet Recycling
A Bridport woman was fined today for disposing of a live cat in the WRONG wheelie bin, the woman apparently placed the cat in the non food recycle black bin provided by West Dorset District Council.
Councillor Dervla McSingh highlighted the fact that any live animal should be recycled using the purple bin with the picture of a Ginsters pasty on the front and not the black bin in this case.
Village Idiots Wanted
THE PLIGHT of the villages of West Dorset is fast becoming dire. The shops, Post Offices and pubs are closing like the rat traps in Hamelin before the arrival of the Pied Piper. Yet that is only the tip of a very worrying iceberg.
As well as these important ingredients of rural life an historical tradition that dates back to the centuries before any of these other facilities were even imagined is also being lost. I write, of course, of the lamentable dearth of idiots in our villages.
Bridport Volcano
Smoke and ash continues to spew forth from the Comers Hill eruption causing widespread disruption to holidaymakers travelling through Chideock and the Marshwood Vale. Three vehicles queued for 8 minutes as visibility on the A35 trunk road was reduced by clouds of acrid volcanic chunder.
Arlo’s Holiday Rant
And what’s wrong now? I’ll tell you what, apart from everything: people on planes. I don’t mean other planes, as in planes of existence, because I’m more than happy for them to occupy whatever construct they’ve constructed for themselves. It wouldn’t do for them to be taking up space on my fluffy cloud. I mean aeroplanes, where it’s difficult to avoid rubbing shoulders with people you would normally rather send into orbit in a shoddy spaceship fashioned from biscuit tins.
Development/Destruction?
Yes, it’s me again, back for another vicious grumble after a prolonged silence, a silence sadly not attributable to the sudden rightness of everything in our delightful town but due entirely to the feebleness of the puny string of internet cable/cotton that connects these far-flung parts to the outside world: it broke. Or something. I hear things work better in Sodom. It’s warmer, too, and easier to fix.
So anyway … what’s wrong now?
Pious Prius Owners
Owners of Toyota Prius cars have been accused of wrecking the planet by environmentalist groups. The car recently recalled in a worldwide safety campaign by Toyota has wrecked the carbon footprint of pious Prius owners due to the FACT that the cars have had to be collected by diesel guzzling recovery vehicles spewing out nearly 40 tonnes of CO2 per collection.

The open market price of scrap iron goes through the roof as River Cottage expands into new markets. Hugh Fearnley Whittingstall has expanded the River Cottage Brand by competing in the open market for scrap metal, once it was buffalo mozzarella on placenta now it's an Electrolux Wellington followed by Smeg Souffle.
