Brazilian Samba band ‘Tribo da Pesada’  come together for an evening of South American rhythms and good fun.  All eminent musicians in their own right, this group of good friends have come over to enjoy themselves and entertain us.  Fabio Allman is the singer for top Rio band, Monobloco, Pepe Barcellos has several solo CD’s to his name, legendary nine-string guitarist Marco Campos and percussionist Felix Gibbons who has played with everyone from Martinho da Vila to Elvis Costello.

Marco Campos started his career in the seventies, a member of various important groups for Brazilian popular music. Since then, he has become a major player in the musical scene in Brazil, as a soloist and as musical director for prominent artists, Carlos Lyra (one of the most important composers of “Bossa-Nova”) and the first lady of ancient Brazilian black music, Mrs. Clementina de Jesus. His work shows a modern approach to composition, based on Brazilian rhythms, as jongo, frevo, choro, samba, bossa-nova and baião. He has performed throughout the world and wrote the score for the ballet “Waterdrops”, performed in London in 2005.
Percussionist Felix Gibbons lived in Brazil for more than 10 years playing with many different bands and musicians. Internationally acclaimed as a percussionist, he specialises in the distinct rhythms of Brazil and Latin America.
They have performed everywhere from Guanabara to Upstairs at Ronnie Scott’s.
