I had a great meal in The Crown pub in Loders. The newish Guv'nor Mr Prince was a top Landlord bloke and I reckon I saw him on telly.

RE: RESTAURANT REVIEWS
Can you only leave positive feedback? If this truly a REVIEW section that honesty is the best policy eh? I went to the Manor at West Bexington recently. Unbeknownst to me, it had been bought by a couple of grockels and some TV show had covered them renovating a new restaurant area. I would rather have eaten in the cosy little bar but I was there for a 108th birthday and the poor dear couldn’t make it down the stairs! Anyway, it looked very plush, but modern and rustic – not too clinical. Service was good. Very polite, organised etc. The menu looked very nice and was very reasonably priced! About £15ish for two courses. The cutlery was proper silver! But that was where the honeymoon ended! The Squid Salad starter was clearly dressed with Tinned squid or at least from a jar. The leaves were uninspirational and the dressing was bland. The Red Mullet main course had an overpowering sorrel sauce and worst of all, the Red Mullet (which is reknown for having melt-in-the-mouth flesh) was over cooked to the point of ruin! Really chewy and brittle boned (proving that the fish had been frozen and was not fresh). So – Everything but the food was great. 2/10. Boo Hiss!
RE: DOUBLE BARRELLED
I think every one should have a number as a surname. That way this problem would be completely removed by simply adding the two numbers/names of the couple together to form a new family name. e.g. If Mr 36 married Miss 87, they would be Mr & Mrs 123 (pronounce ‘Mr & Mrs one hundred and twenty three). Posh people could have numbers with decimal points just for the sake of being different/posh, and thick people could have negative numbers for their names. … (weirdos could have fractions). I got this idea while reading a book on computer programming which made the point that variables can be numeric integer or string. I’m ace I am : )

Perhaps chesilbank doe not realise that 60 mph is the maximum speed not the minimum .. whats the hurry..the old boys who drive @ 40 in a 30 limit probably don’t like being tailgated by impatient imitation white van drivers ..
Cardboard Bobbies?
I see that next year we are going to have a real bobby (not a cardboard one) on each street corner.. one wonders if it is more Police propoganda from Mr Davenport (the one that says there is not a youth problem in town , he should see what the drunken girl teenagers were doing Friday night when I saw them peeing in someones doorway whilst swigging wine from bottles ?).. So why do we have to wait so long, whats wrong with now ? I guess it will all be forgotten by the time spring comes and there will be a new initiative..The shop lifting season is under way with the festive season approaching and on Saturday our finest were invisible again..come on Bridport Police lets see some activity

Hare and Hounds at Waytown. Has always been a great “”””pub”””” and still manages to retain that part of itself, what with most other “”””country pubs”””” being nothing more than restauants with a bar. The food is superb with a good mix on the menu and a specials board that is interesting and constantly changing. I have eaten there several times over the autumn and always been happy with the well cooked, well presented, well priced, unfussy food. The bar crew and serving wenches are what makes the place what it is “”””warm and friendly”””” As an added bonus on the warmer days there is the best view from any pub garden in the county.
