Allington Hill volunteers not only have their own Facebook page facebook.com/Allington-Hillbillies, but have also managed to put in a full working day on Sunday 23rd January, hedgelaying in Coopers Field. For most of the 30 people there, of varying ages, it was their first attempt at this traditional practice – and it was declared a great success by Jonathan Burgess of the Woodland Trust, who own the hill.
Anybody who is interested in getting involved with maintaining Allington Hill as a beautiful and accessible natural resource for the town is invited to get in touch via email on JonathanBurgess@woodlandtrust.org.uk

Allington Hillbillies
Hi there! My father, the late John Cooper, of Home Farm, North Allington, owned Allington Hill, Coopers Field and others. I live in Ibiza and heard about the Hillbillies…and I think it is a wonderful idea. May I ask a question? There is a lady, Sheila Parker, who lived in Home Farm Cottage for many many years (40+) and she now lives in Cherry Tree. She walks her dog Billy in the Field every day although she is very ill. Would the Hillbillies consider making her an Honorary Hillbilly? If anyone embodies the heart of North Allington, it is Sheila.
Thank you Shirley Cooper
ps. When I come back to live in North Allington I will certainly volunteer!
pps. Sheila does not know I have written!
