Summer Fun at Bridport Museum

Our latest acquisition is a beautiful pen and watercolour landscape by Reynolds Stone (1909-1979). From 1953 Stone lived in The Old Rectory in Litton Cheney. Many people don’t know that Stone designed heading for the Times newspaper and the coat of arms for Her Majesty’s Stationery Office- still to be seen on today’s passports. He was also a stone carver and engraved the memorial stones for Winston Churchill, Ralph Vaughan Williams, T.S. Eliot and Benjamin Britten. This painting is a very exciting addition to our fine art collection, and is currently on display at the Museum.

Your Museum Needs You!

We are in need of helpful and energetic people to join our fantastic team of volunteers. In particular, we are looking for people who could cover shifts at the museum front desk if one of our regular volunteers is away. There is plenty of tea and biscuits and it is great fun! For a chat about opportunities  please call us on 01308 458703.
