Town Hall Refurbishment

Work has now started on the refurbishment of Bridport Town Hall, the plans are to create full access to all areas, through the installation of a lift from ground to first floor. Following completion of the project the building will be open to the public six days a week.

project is funded by the Town Council, a £600,000 grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF)·together with support from West Dorset District Council and Dorset County Council.

Mural

town-hall-muralThe mural featuring key Bridport landmarks positioned on the southern side of the hoardings which now surround the town hall was painted by Sarah Butterworth and 60 children from Bridport Primary, St Mary’s and St Catherine’s primary schools.

Toilets

There has been some controversy over the relocation of the Town Hall toilet facilities to South Street car park, there will, however be four toilets installed as part of the refurbishment. Will that be enough or will there be a cross legged queue? Have you got an alternative idea for town centre conveniences? Let us know.

Newbery Paintings
