Film Buff’s Supper

From Page to Screen to Offer Film Buff’s Supper Inbetween Movies!

From Page to Screen, the UK’s only film festival dedicated to the adaptation of books into films, is offering a `Film Buff’s Supper’ on the final evening of the event, which takes place in Bridport on April 10th-14th.

Festival-goers can enjoy a delicious ‘Film Buff’s bruschetta’ with Denhay Farms awarding winning cheese and ham and fresh local salads, in the Bridport Arts Centre café, inbetween screenings of Hitchcock, starring Anthony Hopkins and Helen Mirren, and closing event Psycho Poetica, a poetic re-imagining of Alfred Hitchcock’s slasher, devised by Simon Barraclough and performed by Barraclough, Isobel Dixon and curator Joe Dunthorne. Barraclough sliced the film up into twelve and recruited twelve acclaimed poets to write brand new work in response to each segment. When read in sequence, a `faithful distortion’ of the classic film emerges; by turn chilling, amusing and moving.

Other tasty treats to go with the festival’s feast of films include a selection of freshly baked cakes, biscuits and savoury nibbles from Leakers Bakery. These will be on offer every day ahead of screenings.

From Page to Screen Committee Member Ines Cavill said:

“It’s another great From Page to Screen Festival for hospitality – the audience can once again expect delicious offerings with its cinematic delights from a generous host like Bridport.”

As well as looking after the younger audience at its ‘Hayloft’ venue, the Bull Hotel will create grown-up treats in its glamourous Venner Bar. Shaking up cocktails every night from 5pm, barman Lloyd will be concocting new film-inspired recipes including Mrs Robinson for The Graduate, a delicious mix of Bourbon, Framboise, raspberries, lemon and soda, and Cold Blooded for the special preview of Byzantium, a blend of Grand Marnier, rosemary, lemon and cranberry.

At the one-off screening of The Shining at the Seaside Boarding House there will be a Black Cow Vodka bar to steady nerves with a little unique Dorset courage.

Ahead of the Saturday evening screening of Quartet at the Electric Palace, there will be a free wine tasting with Gulp Wines, who will be showcasing four of their favourite reds and whites.

Showing 20 films over five days at Bridport Arts Centre and The Electric Palace, most films will be accompanied by a guest speaker involved in the writing or film-making process.

Other highlights include:

–         A screening of Life of Pi, introduced by curator Joe Dunthorne

A screening of Submarine, based on the novel by Joe Dunthorne
