The Lyric theatre up for sale as 'LAND'. The Lyric Theatre (Formerly Bernard Gale's School Of Dance) in Barrack Street is being advertised by agents Goadsby And Harding, as 'LAND' For Sale? Correct me If I'm wrong, but didn't I see a dirty great stone LISTED BUILDING standing on that very spot for the last thirty odd years of my life? What corrupt game is taking place here. Could it be the planners are scratching each others back again, maybe hoping no one will notice.

Summer, a few years back now
WEST BAY SEA ANGLING CLUB JURASSIC OPEN BOAT FESTIVAL – SPONSORED BY ATLANTIC FISHERS
Saturday 14th October 2006 saw the start of the two day Jurassic open boat festival at West Bay sponsored by Atlantic Fishers. This match was rescheduled from the 30th September 2006, as due to the weather it was cancelled for safety reasons, but Saturday 14th October dawned with a force 3-4 wind coming from the east, the sky was overcast with the sun breaking through later in the day. On the Saturday we had thirty five competitors fishing from fourteen different boats. The mayor of Bridport set the boats off at 10.00am for the start of the match, it was a wonderful site seeing all the boats steaming out through the magnificent harbour of West Bay as they headed out to their chosen fishing spots to try and bag a prize from the array of prizes up for grabs. Daily the competitors could win a prize for the best two different species % of specimen 1st, 2nd & 3rd, also they could win a prize for the most species 1st, 2nd & 3rd, there was also a prize for the best Lady & Junior and as only one Lady & Junior entered they were guaranteed a prize as long as they caught a fish. Our sponsor Mr Richard Allen from Atlantic Fisher decided to do a spot of pleasure fishing whilst at West Bay promoting the Atlantic Fisher 550. He did manage to catch a few Mackerel.
Nocturnal execution of thousands of kangaroos at the Bridport euro abbattoir. I have been awakened every morning at around 4.00 am by rough voices and revving engines and slamming doors. One morning last week I decided to investigate which unfortunate anmal was being delivered to its fate at such an ungodly hour. I leapt from my bed – actually I crawled groaning from my bed, but this was before the teeth, groin accidents, and went slowly down the stairs then I was in the street, directly next to live animal lorry.
A teacup fell off a shelf and was smashed in The Beach & Barnicott just a few minutes after Elvis impersonator Kim IL Sung pushed the button on his nuclear bomb test. Beach & Barnicott owner Tom Gillott said; "I was minding my own business when all of a sudden a mug fell off a shelf and smashed, there goes my profit margin I thought, it was my favourite Teenage Mutant Hero Turtle mug as well, it was an heirloom, I never imagined connecting the two events but when I saw the evening news it all clicked into place, I was smacked in the gob"
We are growing excited by the increasin use of Bridport in TV and the media, why only the other day I was watching a Divvy Dee called Confetti (starring Tim from the office) and in it a couple of nerdy characters mentioned Bridders in a slightly derogatory fashion, we are all aware of West Bay as the setting for harbour lights and Huge Fearless Whitingsthorpe eating all of our road kill live on Channel 4, but can you recall any other incidences of Bridport in the movies or the TV? Was an episode of The Professionals filmed in Gundry Lane, are the rumours of Woody Allen scouring the area for locations true? Is Deal or No Deal recorded live at DaVinci's? There are many areas of the town in need of “improvement” perhaps we should apply for planning for some of these:
The Coach Park – is undoubtedly designed to keep tourist scum on their filthy coaches. The derelict buildings, the police station, the prison-like bus depot – it’s all key to giving the impression that in Bridport, you’re more likely to get mugged by a bunch of loitering chavs, than be invited to a private view. That is EXACTLY what we want them to think! In an effort to improve this effect, we should spray slurry over the area twice weekly throughout the summer.
