Fanny’s Parlour

We welcome some of our great pals for this session, the inimitable Spike Golding with The Sometimes and Forever Band and  the legendary Ben Folke Thomas (click on the links for a listen).

First we have the very shy Sometimes and Forever Band, making a rare appearance in the South West as they prefer to play further away from home. Spikes songs combine life’s optimism and melancholy in a way that is beautifully disguised in the seeming simplicity of their delivery. The “Sometimes” part of the band will include
Joe Trudgeon on Double bass, Anna Golding on backing vocals and percussion and Fanny Hatstand with a lemon !

Next we have  Swedish born Ben Folke Thomas who started his musical career as a drummer in a grunge band but his life was transformed when he heard Kurt Cobain singing ‘In The Pines’ on the Unplugged record. Steeping himself in Leadbelly, Bob Dylan, and Leonard Cohen, by the age of 20 he was an excellent finger-picker, confident performer, and mature songwriter. Jaded Londoners didn’t know what had hit them when they first heard songs like ‘Paradise Lost (Heaven Found)’, and saw this robust performer with an all encompassing stage presence.

The regulars amongst you will notice a small price increase of £2.50 in order to offer the bands a respectable reward for their considerable talents.

As always, booking is essential and tickets are already flying out from behind the fridge magnet.
